When filing for bankruptcy, it's important to know which bankruptcy plan is best suited for your unique situation. The most common forms are Chapters 7 and 13. These typically involve either a business or an individual in financial difficulty. As an experienced bankruptcy attorney in Mesa, Arizona, attorney Jeff Biddle will work with you to determine which plan is the best option for you.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy, also known as liquidation bankruptcy, is the most common form of bankruptcy for lower-income individuals and businesses. In this form of bankruptcy, most of your assets will be liquidated, or sold, to pay back any debt from your credit cards, mortgage, medical bills, and so on.

Chapter 13 bankruptcy, on the other hand, is filed by individuals with more of a steady income. Through reorganization bankruptcy, an individual's "leftover" income is brought into play when creating a payback plan to settle their debts. Unlike Chapter 7, those who file for Chapter 13 can keep their assets because their income allows them to slowly pay back their creditors.

I've been practicing bankruptcy law since 2006 and have helped countless clients lift the weight of never-ending bills and financial debt off of their backs.
